From being raised in a non-musical household to touring the east coast, Fool On The Hill Productions founder Ryan Hales' journey has been one fueled by an unwavering passion and love for music. During his college years in Orlando, FL, Ryan immersed himself in the vibrant local music scene, forming bands that ranged from funk rock to progressive metal. A defining moment came when he was hired as the drummer for a touring singer-songwriter, solidifying his deep love for live performance no matter the setting or genre.
After relocating to Oregon, Ryan found himself on an unexpected musical hiatus, unsure of his future with music. In finding a home in McMinnville and seeking community, he rediscovered his passion for performing with others. Joining the band, Ships to Roam and contributing to their rise as a local favorite from 2018-2025.
In 2023, Ryan embarked on a new musical adventure with Chinese Cloud Machine (CCM), leaning into playing songs that everyone enjoyed, and bringing a level of excitement and entertainment that was a missing piece to the community. In building the CCM brand, Ryan recognized a strong communal desire for more diverse music on a consistent basis.
This realization led him to found Fool On The Hill Productions, a passion-driven venture dedicated to fostering a vibrant and eclectic music scene. By collaborating with local businesses, musicians, and artists, Fool On The Hill creates opportunities for everyone to experience the magic of live, community-based music while networking with talented artists from other regions of the state, striving to always bring something fresh to wine country.
